I’m an American currently living in Mauritius. I travel often.
For my drawings I search popular culture, magazine articles, travelogues, old journals, fashion, rare and out-of-print books, music, children’s books, film, historical figures, biographies, and botantic gardens. Google image search and the Life archive are invaluable for drawings. When something catches my eye, or seems uncommonly useful or useless, I post here.
I collect vintage viewmaster reels, perfume bottles, vintage scarves, and jewelry from my travels.
I can’t stop thinking about 60s pop culture, giant squids, Victorian fashion, turtles and frogs, pen-and-ink illustrators, feathers, head dresses, 60s British Invasion, silent film, early hand-drawn botanist’s classifications, Dadaism, 20s costume jewelry, Valentino’s designs, popular myths, Paperdolls, children’s books, mods, elephants, botanic gardens and aquariums, french new wave cinema, John Lennon, set design and fashions of retro sitcoms, 60s Brazilian samba jazz and bossa nova, coffee table books, those cards in the back of library books, Hindu/Tamil temple designs, English Eccentrics, telephone booths and milk machines, Harvey Pekar, fashions of the 80s and so on. My favorite perfume is Stella McCartney’s Stella.
